Gay Byrne returns to Friday nights

TV

Legendary broadcaster Gay Byrne is to present a music and chat show, which will appear on our television screens between July and August.

Byrne, who presented the Late Late Show on Friday’s for 37 years between 1962 and 1999, will once again be returning to that slot.

The new show will run for six weeks and is, confusingly enough, titled For One Night Only.

The guests are yet to be announced, but it is expected to be in the vein of Westlife: For One Night Only, which the 76-year-old presented in December.

Gaybo, who reportedly earns €200,000-per-annum from RTÉ, currently presents the religion themed interview series The Meaning of Life.

He also presents a Jazz show, Sunday with Gay Byrne, on Lyric FM which attracts an audience of 55,000 listeners.
