Westlife get personal with Greatest Hits CD artwork and MixPixie

Irish band Westlife have ensured a personal touch with their farewell Greatest Hits album by teaming with MixPixie, the world’s first personalised CD company.
MixPixie allows fans to create a personalised version of the album, “ensuring that their copy of The Greatest Hits is an entirely personal keepsake dedicated to the band.”
Purchases made from the official Westlife website allows choices from two artwork templates, uploading of a name, photo and text to create a unique and chart-eligible album.
Westlife have enjoyed a 14-year career in the music industry and are set to bow out in 2012 after a mammoth farewell tour including 2 nights at Croke Park Stadium in Dublin.
MixPixie is set to launch in January 2012. It was founded by award-winning entrepreneurs Buffie du Pon, James Perkins and Adam Goodyer. MixPixie allows users to create bespoke compilations with a library of 8 million tracks and 500 different album sleeve templates. The personalised artwork and tracks are also available as downloaded bundles.
The company has also finalised licensing agreements with Sony, Universal and EMI and reached an agreement with the MCPS to cover all music publishing clearances. It is able to offer customers the entire catalogue of each of these major labels to create their compilation albums.
With an abundance of support, it is likely that MixPixie will launch with around 95% of all licensed available music content on the web.

Westlife at pre-split album signing

Westlife have given fans one of their last chances to meet them before the band split next year.

Shane Filan and his Westlife bandmates are splitting up next year

Westlife have given fans one of their last chances to meet them before the band split next year.
Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan met hundreds of adoring fans at record signings in HMV stores in Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester.
The album, called Greatest Hits, and includes the singles Swear It Again, Flying Without Wings, Unbreakable and Fool Again.
Westlife announced last month that they are to go their separate ways after next year's farewell tour.
The Irish group, who have been performing for 14 years, have chalked up 26 top 10 hits including 14 number ones.
In Glasgow, fans queued overnight for their chance to catch a glimpse of the boy band, and the first 400 through the door were lucky enough to see the singers up-close.
Mark said: "It's been a bit manic - it's a signing so everyone's kind of wheeled in and wheeled out but we try and speak to each person as much as we can, look them in the eye and say hello and thank you. It would be nicer to spend a bit more time with each person individually, but we have a lot of people to get through."
Shane added: "We've got such an amazing amount of fans in Scotland and we're looking forward to the tour next year - it's going to be unbelievable. Thank you very much to all our fans."
The group, for many years managed by Louis Walsh, formed in 1998 and in that time notched up 11 top five albums - seven of which have gone to number one - and they have sold 44 million records around the world.
Nicky said his favourite album over the years was Where We Are because it is "pretty cool", while Shane opted for the band's first album, Westlife.

The group - for many years managed by Louis Walsh - survived the departure of one of its founding members, Bryan McFadden, and continued seamlessly as a four-piece.
They formed in 1998 and in that time notched up 11 top five albums - seven of which have gone to number one - and they have sold 44 million records around the world.
Byrne said his favourite album over the years was Where We Are because it is "pretty cool", while Filan opted for the band's first album Westlife.

Fans camp out for last chance to meet Westlife

HUNDREDS of Westlife fans camped out to meet the Irish boyband on a flying visit to Glasgow.
Fans started gathering at 9am on Sunday – almost 24 hours before the band was due to arrive – for their last chance to meet the boys before they break up next year.
First in the queue for the CD signing at HMV on Buchanan Street was mum Sharon Blair, 38, from Motherwell, with daughters Jamie Leigh and Caitlin Armit.

Westlife praise dedicated Scottish fans as they arrive in Glasgow

Scottish Westlife fans braved the cold November weather and camped outside Glasgow’s Buchanan Street HMV store for the chance to meet the band, when they arrived for their last ever signing in the city today.

Shane Filan told STV: ""It's quite weird actually we were just talking about it in the bus about how it is the last time we're doing a signing as a band, everything we're doing is for the last time so it is a bit weird.

"The reaction is unbelievable it just shows the dedication we have in Scotland, it's pretty cool."

Westlife announced their split last month after an incredible fourteen years together.

Mark Feehily was keen to ensure fans that although the band won’t be together, they won’t disappear from the spotlight.

“It’s the last time we’ll sign in Glasgow more than likely so it’s a sad day in that sense, but we’re also here to celebrate the last 14 years, it’s not all doom and gloom.

“We’ll be back here soon for our gigs. We’re not dead, we’re just splitting up so we’ll be around individually. You’ll see us all somewhere.”

Westlife’s final tour takes place next year and their greatest hits album, featuring four new tracks, is available now.

X Factor: Johnny Vaughan, Kian Egan and Alexandra Burke backing Marcus Collins and Little Mix

The Xtra Factor panel were in total agreement last night, for probably the first time this series.
On the ITV2 X Factor spin off show, DJ Johnny Vaughan, Westlife star Kian Egan and former show winner Alexandra Burke were invited on to give their opinions on the night’s performances and they all agreed, Marcus Collins and Little Mix totally slammed it!
Former Big Breakfast star Johnny started the love in, declaring:
I thought Marcus gave the outstanding showbiz performance. It really was fully showbiz.
He added:
But the outstanding musical moment for me of the evening, was when Little Mix, just at the end, went into their acapella harmony, which not many British girl bands have ever done. They normally sing in unison. They broke it down. They really did it! It was the best sound of the whole evening.
Alexandra Burke was in total agreement and explained:
For me, Little Mix and Marcus stole the show for me tonight. I think they’re going to be in the finals.
Kian went on:
I do agree. Little Mix probably because they upped it an awful lot tonight. This week I thought they were really strong. And Marcus seemed to be in the flow, really performing well, as if it was really natural to him.
