WESTLIFE will end their 14-year pop career with a rousing gala night at Croke Park.
The group announced last week that they will disband after a greatest hits tour next year.
They have decided to switch venue from the Aviva Stadium to Croke Park after huge demand from their fans.
A band insider said: ‘It has to be special. Because of the demand for a big night, Croke Park just seemed like the only place for them to play. This will be the third time the band has played there and they have such special memories from it.
‘They know that their fans have a real connection with Westlife and Croker. With a capacity of just over 80,000, it means fans won’t won’t be disappointed.’
The Aviva Stadium can hold just over 50,000 spectators. Band members Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan have said the decision to split was ‘entirely amicable’.
In a statement, the band added: ‘After spending all of our adult life together, we want a well-earned break.
‘We see the greatest hits collection and the farewell tour as the perfect way to celebrate our incredible career along with our fans.
‘We are really looking forward to getting out on the tour and seeing our fans one last time.’
In the past 14 years, Westlife have notched up 26 top ten hits.
